VQH Letter to Whitehouse-Must Repeal Death Panel by 15August2017
This report on the “death panels” established by the PPACA is very alarming. We had known of the IPAB for some time, but didn’t realize how totally destructive and entrenched it will become if not repealed by August 15, 2017.
“…The Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB)… will be independent of you, your doctors, your hospitals, Medicare, Congress, the judiciary, the democratic process, ultimately even the Constitution itself. As the Cato Institute tried to warn us five years ago, IPAB is “independent in the worst sense of the word: independent of Congress, independent of the president, independent of the judiciary, and independent of the will of the people.”
Obamacare specifically states that Congress can only repeal IPAB through a precisely worded joint resolution introduced in both houses of Congress in January 2017, which Republicans have already introduced. Obamacare further provides that repeal can only be enacted by a three-fifths supermajority in both houses, by Aug. 15. Otherwise, Obamacare states Congress may never, ever repeal IPAB afterward…“
We respectfully ask that President Trump and Vice President Pence be briefed on the urgency of this matter, and that all available means be used to inform the public of this particularly harmful provision of the ACA.
